Narendra Haynes is a Philadelphia based painter and sculptor whose work explores human exceptionalism and the ecological crisis. Through his practice of repurposing Styrofoam waste and collaborating with mealworms to decompose this synthetic pollutant, Haynes’ generates ecologically grounded meditations that challenge us to think differently about the material conditions of our shared planet. Haynes was born in Detroit and obtained his BFA from The Cooper Union in New York City. He is a recent graduate from the University of Pennsylvania where he received his MFA, a Certificate in Emerging Design and Research, and The Stuart Egnal Scholarship Award.
