Kevin Hernández Rosa
Yale
2021
Kevin creates Ietsisic devotional sculptures from naturally eroded and insidiously mundane found objects. They have an intuitive formal process in which they sift through a growing personal iconography inspired by their former graffiti practice, ongoing mindfulness coping mechanisms, and explorations of the experiential capacities of phenomena as they relate to suffering, indifference, and beauty. Their sculptures unearth and reverberate the erotic, sensual, neurotic, and primal capacities of the human mind and body.
They are slated to participate in a group exhibition at M23, NYC in the summer of 2021 and they are a co-grantee of the 2021 Graham Foundation Grant.
